Our Lake Ohau Luxury trail is a horseback adventure that you can do with friends and family or travel alone and leave with a whole new group of friends.

The Lake Ohau Quarters is a splendid location nestled on the banks of Lake Ohau located in the Aoraki Mackenzie international dark sky reserve.

For Maori, during seasonal excursions to Lake Ohau they would harvest a great range of roots, birds and eels.

History of this location

Lake Ohau Station was first farmed in 1857 by European settlers.

Note: This land is called “high country” because it is located at 550m up to 2100m above sea level. The station is 8322 hectares and runs around 5000 merino sheep and Angus cattle.

Star Gazing– Lake Ohau is within the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky International Reserve
